Stelaris Hotel, Curacao
« on: April 20, 2018, 07:44:56 PM »

In January of 1999, Chief Petty Officer William Hefner from the US Chandler went into the Stelaris Hotel in the Otrobanda area of Willemstad. The Stelaris Hotel was located directly across the street from the old cruise ship docks that are still used when the MegaPier, Harbor, and Bunker Piers are full. The hotel was off limits to US military personnel. It was owned by John Daryanani, a Curacao businessman, and his relatives.

Hefner was sitting in the bar area and noticed two women sitting together at a table. One woman was Caucasian and the other was Hispanic. The Caucasian woman walked over to him and told him that her name was Amy Bradley and she needed help. Hefner did not recognize that she was a missing person, but he did recognize that she was an American. He told her to go to the ship that was docked five minutes away. Amy made another attempt to tell him that he didn't understand, her name was Amy Bradley and she needed help. Two men then approached Amy and sent her upstairs. Hefner did not report that he had seen Amy in the hotel. The hotel was off limits to Navy personnel because of it's bad reputation. The man was also married at the time. Amy pleaded with him for help and she gave him her name. He didn't realize who she was until he later saw her photograph on the cover of the July, 2001 People Magazine.

Hefner saw Amy in January of 1999. The old hotel burned to the ground in May of 2000. There is nothing left of the hotel. There is an empty and overgrown lot where the hotel once stood.

William Hefner has passed FBI polygraphs. He has declined to be publicly interviewed by the media. Hefner did agree to be part of Beth Holloway's Vanished program, but he dropped out at the last minute.

Hotel Stelaris
De Rouvilleweg 57
Curacao

The first image shows the empty lot where the Stelaris Hotel had been. It is directly across the street from the old dock for cruise ships. When the MegaPier and Bunker Piers are full, cruise ships still go to the old dock. The Stelaris had a bar that was open to the public. I wonder how many people from the cruise ships saw Amy, but didn't recognize her.

The Stelaris Hotel was an old hotel. It was not an official brothel. It did have a bar that was open to the public. The Stelaris was off limits to all US military personnel because it had a bad reputation. When William Hefner came to Virginia, he apologized to Iva Bradley. He told Iva that he had seen her daughter and she needed help.

Iva said the FBI did not share all of the information with the Bradleys after the various interviews with Bill Hefner. Iva knows Bill Hefner was interviewed by the FBI and he took a polygraph about seeing Amy in the Stelaris Hotel. The FBI did tell Iva that Hefner passed the polygraph, but they wouldn't give many additional details. Iva and Ron only know the woman with Amy at the Stelaris was Hispanic. Iva was told Hefner did identify Amy as the woman he saw at the Stelaris and the polygraph included questions about Amy identifying herself to Hefner.

Bill Hefner has refused to give any interviews. He did agree to be part of the Vanished episode with an agreement stating his face would be distorted. When Hefner was supposed to leave the airport for Curacao, he suddenly claimed he had lost his passport and he didn't get on the plane. He does not want to be part of anything where he will be recognized. He did meet with the FBI and he did pass their polygraph.

John Daryanani was the former owner of the Stelaris Hotel at the time Amy was seen there. Amy was seen at the Stelaris in January of 1999. The Stelaris was sold and burned to the ground in May of 2000. Daryanani was the president of the Curacao port development committee. He was very involved with the development of Curacao's port and in building duty free shopping malls at the port. Royal Caribbean was also involved with some of these projects in Aruba and Curacao. John was eventually charged with arson and insurance fraud. His Uncle Haresh was arrested for the possession of fire arms and for laundering of drug-money via his businesses Casa Roberto and Hermanos Lalo in the free zone.

 DETENSHON JOHN DARYANANI

DARYANANI STILL DETAINED

Businessman and project developer John Daryanani (4 is behind bars in the police cells (block 1) of the Bon Futuro-jail. He was arrested in his home at Perseusweg yesterday on suspicion of arson in conjunction with others and insurance fraud. The arrest was part of the criminal investigation into the five fires that raged in the free zone between November of last year and February of this year. Daryanani was taken into custody at 14:00. The district attorney will have to request the examining magistrate tomorrow (two days after the arrest) to extent the detention with eight days. The examining magistrate will allow this if there are sufficient grounds. Daryanani’s current lawyer, Arend de Winter returned to the island late yesterday afternoon and was going to visit his client in prison today to discuss his case.

The Public Prosecutor neither confirms nor denies the rumours that John’s uncle, Haresh Daryanani is also wanted by justice. The criminal case against this Haresh for the possession of fire arms and for laundering of drug-money via his businesses Casa Roberto and Hermanos Lalo in de free zone was conditionally dismissed in 2005. Haresh had to deposit 150.000 guilders in the criminality fund and do 120 hours of community services.
